DR SVETLANA TIKHONOVA
I graduated from Belarusian State Medical University as a dentist and completed a three-year speciality training in Operative Dentistry. I was granted a Master of Science degree in Dentistry from the same University. My PhD research project (2008-2013, Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University) was a cross-over randomized clinical trial investigated the impact of the two visual-tactile caries diagnostic systems on dentists’ caries treatment decisions. My postdoctoral project (Faculty of Dentistry, Université de Montréal, 2013-2016) was about a role of stress and family functioning in children's caries risk. My current research interests are 1. Cariology education within undergraduate dental curriculum 2. Implementation of a non-operative caries treatment program (the Nexo method) in Canadian settings. Currently, I am working as a faculty lecturer at McGill University, Faculty of Dentistry. I am teaching Oral Health Research course for undergraduate dental students. In addition, I am providing Cariology lectures, caries diagnosis hands-on laboratories and clinical training for dental students.
